what is a girl to do when she has places to go, but a closet filled with too many basics?
why, she buys lots of textured black skirts to pair them with!
the textured black skirt is one of the most versatile pieces..it lends your outfit an element of interest, and looks great paired with the solid tees, tanks, and sweaters that are normally reserved for denim days..
this was taken after my birthday dinner (aww..my bookcase! so well-loved, but it's getting crowded..this dawned on me as i am now stacking books on the floor alongside it)..the top is by max studio, the skirt is by BB Dakota, the tights are ralph lauren, and the booties are by sam edelman..
i love this simple black skirt with scales all over it..i especially love the wide elastic band which means the skirt can be made shorter or longer with just a simple tug..
here are a couple more favorites:
this zara pleated faux leather skirt is infinitely wearable..it would look equally great with a slouchy knit (such as above) and boots for play, or a wide belt and pumps for work..
this pleated black wool miniskirt by phi ($130 at the outnet) would look so cute with this season's heeled military boots..
this elizabeth and james 'sculptors' drape skirt available at nordstrom for $94 is great for night..the overlapping front shows just enough leg, and it will still be comfortable for dancing all night..this skirt looks best with strappy sandals and a body-hugging top..
