Is there anything better than a sign touting "Additional 50% off already reduced prices"?! I think not.

I'm not sure when the H&M sale started, but it's definitely picked over and slim pickings at this point.  I sifted through the racks, and managed to find two things that I love for spring/summer. 

first, this tweed moto jacket in a poppy pink for $7.50:

It still gets pretty chilly in LA at night, so a jacket is essential.  I like to pair bright bright pieces with neutral basics.  This jacket will look great over white cut-off shorts, a white tee, and similarly bright pumps.

next, this floral pencil skirt for $10:

I was contemplating picking up this skirt when it was full price, so I was thrilled to find it on the sales rack in my size.  pencil skirts are a must-have for my work life, so this skirt will fit in nicely.  it'll be a welcome shot of pattern and color in place of my usual blacks and creams. 

finally, I stopped into forever 21 and found these gold/cream tweed shorts for $8.99:

dressy shorts are especially great for those times when you don't know where your date will be taking you.  I keep a pair of heels and flat sandals in the car, and i'm pretty much ready for anything.

for christmas this year, i picked up a mary katrantzou scarf for my mother.  she loves the brand, i wish i could get her more, but it is so very pricey. 

price aside, i love the prints, colors, and graphics of the line and stop several beats to ogle the goods when i'm at barneys.

if you love the prints, colors, and graphics like me, i would recommend you check out pieces by clover canyon.  a similar feel. but with prices ranging from $100.00-$300.00.

i definitely see a couple clover canyon pieces making their way into my closet soon.  the rich textures and prints would balance nicely with a blazer to take me from work to dinner in a flash. 

scents: jo malone blackberry and bay

i am not a fan of fragrance samples.  i have too many little vials of this or that, and they usually end up collecting dust in some corner of my room, or in the trash during a manic cleaning session. 

but when i saw a sample packet for Jo Malone's newest fragrance "Blackberry and Bay", I just had to try it out.  i've never been a huge fan of berry based fragrances, but i am a huge fan of anything jo malone.  and i was not disappointed because it is exquisite.  i definitely sniff tart and fresh berry, but also a soothing and sexy musk.  it's one of those fragrances that smells delicious without trying too hard. 

i've been using my little sample vial sparingly for the past month, but was beyond excited when i saw my mother had replenished my depleting vial with not only the 100 ml bottle of cologne, but also the super indulgent body creme for christmas.

for my favorite tiny one

when i was 10 years old, my aunt sat me down and told me that she would buy me anything i wanted for christmas.  she told me to write out a list, and she would get me something off that list. 

oh man, did i edit my list.  i begged my mom to visit bookstores upon bookstores to write out a list with my favorites.  i was particularly drawn to a young adult box set of books that i can't recall anymore.  all i know is that i really really wanted that set.  i carefully labeled it #1 in bold red ink and listed the exact location of the exact bookstore that it could be found at.

christmas came, and i excitedly opened my aunt's gift to find that she did not get me anything on my list.  she had given me heated slippers.  the caveat? they were in a women's size 7.  i don't even wear that size now. 

i was crushed.

now that i am an aunt myself, i have determined that i will never ever stray from any list from the young ones in my family.  being that my cousin's precious baby A is only 3 months old, I asked Vic what A may like for christmas. 

Vic showed me a picture that just slayed me with cuteness.  The most perfect tiny moccasins in gold.

Put in an order, and cannot wait to see these on A next time!

 

ipad case

on my birthday this year, i finally picked up the ipad.  i may be the last person i know to own one, but i was so relieved that my birthday fell right after the unveiling conference announcing the release of the ipad 4. 

now let's be honest. more important than the actual ipad is the choice of an ipad cover! while there is nothing wrong with good ol' dependable black leather, i wanted something more fun.  i searched everywhere from amazon to net-a-porter. 

first, i picked up this roo red leather  case from amazon since it is a great buy at $29.97.  while i really liked certain features of this case (the automatic wake/sleep is awesome), the case was a bit too bulky, and i felt like i was carrying a textbook in my purse.  i gave the case to my brother, and he informs me that it is "awesome." oh boys.  so easy to please. 

i ended up buying this kate spade kaleidoscope stripe tablet folio, and i'm more than happy with it.  it's slimmer, sturdy, and the stripes make me endlessly happy.
