after a bit of confusion, i booked it out the door last night to meet my dear friend jess for dinner at bottega louie in downtown los angeles.
which was funny because just two days prior, i was catching up with a few other girlfriends right across the street at mas malo.
bottega louie is such a fun place! our dinner was peppered with loud renditions of "happy birthday" coming from nearby tables, and we conversed in volumes meant for a nightclub. but the food is absolutely delicious (i have a newfound obsession with italian salad. started at mama d's in newport beach, and getting ever the more apparent at bottega louie), and the cocktails have a punch (my gin-loving self was very satisfied with my "bronx" martini). as we were leaving, we were handed a white paper bag with a "sample" which actually consisted of a whole loaf of cinnamon butter cake. yum!
jess and i exchanged belated christmas gifts over dinner, and she certainly knows me well. this paul and joe sister scarf is soft, gauzy, and plaid. i love plaid. plaid and stripes are my thing. get me either/or and it's pretty much guaranteed that you'll get sick of seeing me in it.
and i'm starting to love downtown los angeles. so much so, that i'm dining there again tonight. at the gorbals. excited!
