red lips

i have an obsession with red lipstick.  it started one day when i had to go to a work event, and forgot my makeup bag at home.  i had the makeup bag that i carry with me in my purse, but that only had a black pencil eyeliner, oil blotting sheets, and a lone red lipstick.  i swiped on some color, and instantly felt pulled together.

although every brand offers several shades of red, here are two that are my tried and true.  

1.  For Work: Nars Velvet Matte Pencil in Cruella

make no mistake, this is still full-on red..but since it's a little deeper and a little warmer, it works well for work events.  the SA at the nars counter at my local nordstrom taught me that if i want colors to work with my yellow undertones, i should stick to warm tones.  if i want colors to really pop, then i look for cool tones.

2.  For Play: Dolce and Gabbana Passion Duo Lipstick in Incognito

a fierce orange-red, this sucker is bright! I love wearing this for nights out, and usually pair with a half set of lashes, black liner, and a touch of bronzer.  Below is me wearing incognito during an outing this past weekend.
